These paintings are a combination of properties both in and out of my control. The paint is poured on wet paper and then left to dry. During the drying process the paint mixes and flows to create hard edges and soft variations of color. It is always a surprise to see how a painting can look one way wet and completely different when dry. It is at this point that I work back in with a paint brush and blur the boundary between what was created by hand and what wasn't. The result is a controlled chaos of vibrant color.
